Hyderabad: With the increase in number of teenage drivers and bad traffic habits among the youngsters, the Hyderabad traffic police has come up with video games to inculcate safe driving habits among school and college students. The move is aimed at sensitising youngsters about the importance of responsible driving behaviour.

These video games will also be part of school curriculum and marks and weightage will be given to the students, to get them interested in learning safe driving habits in their educational institutions.  A workshop also will be held for students to create awareness on road safety.

As part of this, the Hyderabad traffic police has also created awareness among 12,649 students in various degree and engineering colleges in the city and has distributed CDs, pamplets and audio-visuals consisting of traffic rules and speeches by senior traffic officials, actor Allu Ajrun and director S S Rajamouli.

About 200 minors were caught in July and their vehicles were seized. However, this has not deterred minors from hitting the road in their vehicles. Road safety will also be part of the curriculum of primary and higher education in the state.
