It was signed by irrigation minister T. Harish Rao and Isro chairman Prof A.S. Kiran  Kumar here, considered to be a first of its kind initiative by a state government.

It will enable the government to assess the annual variability of  water in surface runoff and devise solutions to deal with it for the benefit of the farming community. The exercise is aimed at developing a water resources map with satellite data which would be updated every 10 days based on the ground information.

Prof. Kiran Kumar appreciated  the government for making a bold attempt to  make use of technology  to ensure  effective use of water. He said it was an eventful day for Isro, which tries to make space technology available to the state and Central government departments.
