WB blast: NIA brings suspect to K’giri for probe

The search took place following information given by him about the trial blasts, which was allegedly tested by him here in 2012.

KRISHNAGIRI: Habib-ur-Rehman Shaik (28) of Muluk Shantipalli village in Birbhum of West Bengal and a suspected militant of the Bangladesh-based movement ‘Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen’ (JMB), was brought here on Saturday by sleuths of the National Investigation Agency (NIA).

Around 10 personnel of the Bengaluru NIA wing brought the accused and conducted a search in Syed Basha hills behind the new bus stand in Krishnagiri town.

The search took place following information given by him about the trial blasts, which was allegedly tested by him here in 2012.

The trial in Krishnagiri was conducted two years before the blast at Burdwan in October 2014. But, the NIA team returned to Bengaluru empty, since they found no clues at the place mentioned by the accused.

Habib-ur-Rehman Shaik, prime accused in Burdwan blast case that was recorded by the West Bengal state police following an explosion in a house killing two people and injuring others.

The explosion occurred when Habib-ur-Rehman Shaik was allegedly involved in making crude bombs to fight the Indian and Bangladesh governments by unleashing terror in both the countries.

The accused carried a cash reward of `10 lakh announced by the NIA and also had close links with JMB leaders Jahidul Islam @ Kausar, Rahamathullah and Moulana Yusuf.
