Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd  would develop parking space at the Metro Rail stations with a long-term perspective, to meet the requirements of commuters in the coming 20 years.

As per the few surveys done in the automobiles sector, the use of electric vehicles like e-bikes, e-rickshaws and e-cars will increase in the city in the next 10 years. Keeping the requirements of the owners of such vehicles, the HMRL will install charging points at the parking places in the stations.

Such charging units draw power from solar panels installed on PPP mode. These units will ensure recharge of batteries of electric vehicles. Mr Reddy said HRML is developing roads and junctions on the lines of world-class models. “We would develop the Rasoolpura junction and the roads along the metro corridors. The entire corridors will have greenery with street furniture. Besides the GHMC, we are also planning to construct public toilets,” he said.

He said the HMRL would encourage ‘Public Art’ at the Metro stations as is also the case with other Metros. “We shall provide space for public art. Anyone can come and draw sceneries or even simply scribble and have graffiti. We are taking care of beautification on par with the actual project. All the stations will have stalls for books, mobile phone stores etc. “Each station will have shopping mall and multiplex.

The main stations will have at least eight screens in the multiplex. We are having 1.2 million sqf space for malls. Signage boards along the approach roads will have signs in Telugu and English; and the same in stations will have Telugu, Hindi, Urdu and English languages,” he said.
