Chennai: DMK chief M. K. Stalin has claimed that people are fed up of the Narendra Modi-government at Centre and also the Edappadi Palaniswami government in State and that he could sense a strong wave against Modi in the State.

“I have covered 30 Lok Sabha constituencies since I began my campaign on March 20, and I see anti Modi wave. People are against Modi,” said Stalin while campaigning for ally VCK candidate for Villupuram D. Ravikumar, near here on Saturday.

“The mood of the people indicate that the DMK combine will win all 40 seats (including the lone Puducherry LS constitue-ncy) and the by-election in 18 Assembly constituencies, as well,” he added.

Claiming that it has become a habit of PM Narendra Modi to utter “lies” whenever there is any threat to him or his religion, Stalin said Modi resorted to making false poll promises after being distraught by the Congress party’s manifesto.

“I am happy and proud that Rahul Gandhi has seconded Kalaignar’s (late DMK president M. Karunanidhi) slogan of autonomy for states in his party manifesto and I would like to thank him for that," the DMK chief said.

His party would reinstate the “Makkal Nala Paniyalargal” dismissed from service by the AIADMK government besides appoint 50 lakh women as Workers for People’s Welfare, he assured.

The DMK chief also promised to ensure Rs. 4,000 per tonne for sugarcane and Rs. 2,500 for paddy as Minimum Support Price per quintal besides efforts to ensure that cane farmers got their remittances within 100 days for the produce procured from them, if his party was voted to power. Stalin also assured steps to roll back the hike in cable television charges.
