YSRC man offers money to police for poll favour

Vijayawada: A person claiming himself to be a strong supporter of the YSRC, tried to offer money to the police seeking favour to the YSRC in the forthcoming elections.

The Mylavaram police registered a case against Maganti Venkata Rama Rao alias Abbai for offering money to the police.

SI B. Srinivas said that the accused Abbai first met G Konduru police station SI and offered the money but the SI rejected the same and informed the same to higher police officials. He said that further accused contacted Reddigudem SI and his offer was rejected. He stated that further accused came to Mylavaram police station and stated that YSRC leader Vasantha Krishna Prasad asked him to meet the SI.

He said that accused offered money asking favour to YSRC in the forthcoming election but he rejected the same and informed the same to the higher police officials. He said that he tried to catch accused but he managed to escape from the spot.

He said that the police registered the case and started searches to nab the accused.  

Responding to the allegations, YSRC leader Vasantha Krishna Prasad alleged the police, on the orders of TD minister D. Umama-heswara Rao, registered a case  against YSRC. He stated that YSRC had lodged a complaint against minister Uma and hisfollowers on illegal wood smuggling, in the past.  Hence, the TD is forcing the police to register fake cases. He demanded  releasing CCTV footage of the YSRC man.
