Chennai: It was a reunion with a difference. Sixty five eminent men from different walks of life met after 50 years. They passed out their SSLC examination from Sri Ramakrishna Mission (Main) Higher Secondary School in T.Nagar in 1969.

The event was to mark the golden jubilee celebrations.  And it was not just a normal meeting on February 3 at the same school premises. They had come from various parts of India and abroad.

The entire series of talks with each other and the emotional get together made the entire day very memorable. Oh that feeling of seeing all of them again and talking about old classmates, teachers and school was an unforgettable experience. Felt like the classroom, the benches, the entire area was actually welcoming them  back. Memories were expressing themselves in form of tears. The entire experience was extraordinary. Nothing can be fulfilling as meeting old childhood friends and sharing those nice awesome memories each had during childhood. The gathering included doctors, chartered accountants, businessmen, one film and television actor, one journalist, retired bankers and top bureaucrats.

These old students decided to do something to the school towards building infrastructure for over Rs 5 lakh, which included a well equipped stage in Thiruvalluvar arangam with audio fittings;  24 CCTV cameras in and around the school campus; 260 LED lamps; chairs and carpets.
