Abandoned mentally ill man gets medical relief in Mannargudi Government Hospital

After the treatment, the man was handed over to a mental home at Thiruthuraipoondi, on Tuesday for further treatment.

MANNARGUDI: Doctors and para-medical staff of the Government Hospital Mannargudi received lots of appreciation from the general public as well NGOs for taking steps to cure an uncared mentally ill male patient who was lying on a platform in Mannargudi town for months together.

After the treatment, the man was handed over to a mental home at Thiruthuraipoondi, on Tuesday for further treatment.

It might be recalled that the man, who was unable to move due to multiple injuries including on his right leg, lying on the platform just opposite to municipal office, was removed  by a doctors team led by Dr Vijayakumar, to the hospital 15 days back based on a plea by the Mannargudi-based NGO 'Nesakkarangal'.
