Hyderabad: Hyderabad Metro Rail has blamed pollution for the sudden stoppage of its trains. It said carbon deposits were collecting on power cables due to pollution near Uppal and Nagole, creating operational issues for the Metro Rail trains.

The same system is going to be implemented here once the new government is formed in December.

The Hitec City route will be completed next month. At present the ridership of metro rail is 1.75 lakh commuters per day. The improvement in the last mile connectivity and the starting of the Hitec City stretch will add to the numbers.

Mr Reddy said once the Hitec City stretch starts, monthly passes will be introduced.

The survey for taking the Metro line through the Old City areas has been completed and the properties to be acquired for the eight-km stretch have been identified. It will fall to the new government to complete the work in the Old City.
