Bhubaneshwar: A pregnant woman on her way to a hospital in an ambulance died on Saturday when the vehicle ran out of fuel midway.

According to sources, one Chittaranjan Munda admitted his wife to Bangiriposhi hospital on Friday night after she complained of labor pain. But as her condition turned critical, doctors advised that she be shifted to Baripada hospital. After coming to know that the 108 ambulance he called for would be delayed, Chittaranjan used the ambulance available at the hospital.

Unfortunately, the ambulance ran out of fuel midway. Since there were no refuelling stations nearby, the pregnant woman and her family members had to wait for almost an hour before a 108 ambulance came. The woman was shifted to Baripada hospital but doctors there declared her as “brought dead”.
