Chennai: In an effort to encourage industrial growth in TN under the 'ease of doing business' scheme, the state government signed the first Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to ensure uninterrupted power to the Mahindra Industrial Park, here, on Tuesday.

The MoU was signed by Tangedco and Mahindra Industrial Park in the presence of Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami at the Secretariat here. Under the 'ease of doing business' scheme, TANGEDCO will install a sub-station at its cost on the land provided by the industry and ensure continuous power supply to the industrial unit through feeder lines. This scheme applies to all industries involved in manufacture or service. Tangedco will bear the cost of the first feeder while the consumer would bear the cost of additional feeder.

The industrial consumer would be permitted to establish a sub-station and associated infrastructure on its own, provided it meets the technical specifications of the discom. If it requires a second source of supply, a second feeder would also be extended.

Tangedco has offered to support with 110KV sub-station at Eliyambedu on the land provided by Mahindra, which is developing an industrial park at Gummidipoondi here. The industry also gets a first feeder free of cost and automatic meter facility will be provided at the feeder level.
