Tamil Nadu to take steps to prepare students for Neet: KA Sengottaiyan
412 Neet training centres for students across state, says Minister.
Chennai: Confirming that the Neet exam is here to stay, the school education minister K.A. Sengottaiyan on Tuesday said the state government will take a slew of measures to prepare students for common medical entrance exam before the end of this month.
Presiding over a Teachers' Day function here he said, “Not a single student from the state should be affected by the national level competitive exams in future.”
“We plan to set up 412 Neet training centres for students across the state. The school education department is preparing a question bank with 54,000 questions in both Tamil and English with best teachers and we will release it soon,” he said.
He also listed out various educational reforms initiated recently by the department including the abolition of state ranks and introducing the public exam for Plus-1 students.
“The student (Ariyalur student Anitha) who has scored well in plus 2 exams, could not score well in Neet due to questions from plus 1 subjects. We are introducing public exam for Plus-1 to prepare students for national level competitive exams,” he added.
Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palanisami said the introduction of Plus-1 public exam has given confidence to students to face medical and engineering entrance exams.
“The new syllabus and curriculum will make Tamil Nadu one of the pioneer states in the county,” he said. Through a Zen story, he stressed the need to adopt new changes. “Those who accept the changes alone can shine,” he said.
Totally 383 teachers have received Dr Radhakrishnan awards for the best teachers. Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam and other ministers, chief secretary Girija Vaidyanathan, school education principal secretary Pradeep Yadav, secretary T.Udhayachandran, school education director R.Ilangovan and others participated.
