Hyderabad: Mishap victim's organs given to Jeevandan

He suffered severe head injuries and his body was shifted to a private hospital where he underwent a head surgery.

Vijay, who himself had undergone a kidney transplant, will set on a 9,000-kilometre long journey from Chennai to Ladakh and aims to inspire million to pledge their organs. He will begin his journey on World Organ Donation Day, on Sunday.

Hyderabad: Six organs of 27-year-old S. Shashidhar were donated to the Jeevandan scheme of the government after he was declared brain dead on September 1. 

Shashidhar was working in a private company in Hyderabad and was a resident of Kar-nataka. On August 30 while he was returning from the office on his two wheeler at Kokapet he was hit by an un-known vehicle from be-hind. He suffered severe head injuries and his body was shifted to a private hospital where he underwent a head surgery. After the surgery, the doctors waited for two days but there was no response from the patient. The treating neuro surgeon de-clared him brain dead due to severe grave injuries. His father Sadashiva S Doddappagol gave consent for organ transplant and six orpgans were retrieved. A heart, two kidneys, one liver and two corneas were donated to the Jeevandan scheme of the government.
