Belthangady MLA Harish Poonja said he had tested COVID positive on Wednesday. Poonja declared this through his twitter account.
The MLA had met Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa on July 30. After the Chief Minister tested positive on August 2, Poonja, who was his primary contact, went into Home Quarantine.
"I went for to get myself tested after mild fever and it emerged that I had tested positive for the virus. As there are no other symptoms other than mild fever, I am under treatment at home (Home isolation)," Poonja tweeted.
He also asked those who had come in contact with him to take care and isolte themselves.
Poonja is the second MLA to test positive in Coastal Karnataka. Last month, Mangaluru City North MLA Y Bharath Shetty tested positive.
