Mysuru: The third additional district and sessions court on Thursday put off  hearing a petition by a miner charging Mr Sunil Bose, son of PWD Minister, Dr H C Mahadevappa, with demanding a bribe for issuing him a permit to transport sand, to August 16.

The sand miner, Basavarj operating in T Narsipur taluk, had filed a case against an officer of the department of mines and geology, Alfonis, for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 1 lakh to issue him a  permit for transporting  sand. Mr Bose too was mentioned as Alfonis claimed he had demanded the  money to hand over to the minister’s son, who would not allow the issue of the permit otherwise.

But when the Lokayukta police dropped Mr Bose’s name  from the chargesheet,  Mr Basavaraj went to court again and got a direction for his inclusion as accused No 2 in the case. Summoned to the court on July 4 with his friend, Raju, Mr Bose, however, took permission to  attend the proceedings on July 21 instead.

But he failed to appear before it that day as well and the hearing was put off to August 4. With he and Mr Raju failing to appear on Thursday, their advocate said  they had filed a petition in the HC to  stay the summons issued, and the hearing was put off again.
