Hyderabad: ‘Misleading’ officials jailed for 3 months

Apart from imprisonment, all three were directed to pay a fine of Rs 2,000 for violating the orders of the court.

Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Friday ordered three months imprisonment for three government officials and a fine for misleading the court by filing a false affidavit and for violation of stay orders issued by the court.

Justice M.S. Ramchander Rao was hearing a contempt case filed by 14 agricultural labourers from Etigadda Kistapur, Thoguta mandal, in Siddipet district.

The three officers are Siddipet revenue divisional officer Jayachandra Reddy, Kaleshwaram superintendent engineer T. Venu and Thoguta tahsildar L. Veer Singh. Apart from imprisonment, all three were directed to pay a fine of Rs 2,000 for violating the orders of the court.  The court suspended the punishment for six weeks, to enable them to appeal.
