Bribe: ACB officials net BWSSB babu

The SI of Amberpet police station allegedly stopped a marriage party and demanded a bribe to allow them to play music. When they refused he tried to stop the party and misbehaved with the groom.

Bengaluru: A BWSSB supervisor was caught red-handed by the sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting a bribe from a contractor to sanction underground drainage (UGD) and water connection.

A private contractor of two houses in Kumaraswamy Layout had approached Banagiri Nagar sub-division of BWSSB for the permission. However, the supervisor, Venkataramanappa, at the Kumaraswamy Layout service station demanded 

Rs 40,000 as bribe to sanction the connection. The contractor, however, approached the ACB officials and lodged a complaint. On Wednesday, ACB sleuths caught the supervisor red-handed while accepting Rs 20,000 from the contractor. 

A case has been registered at the ACB city police and the investigation is underway.
