Bengaluru: The Karnataka Commission for the Protection of Child Rights (KCPCR) has started investigation into the suicide by Raunak Banerjee, a class IX standard student of Baldwin Boys' High School on Hosur Road, after he was allegedly bullied in the school van. School authorities submitted crucial documents related to the student to the KCPCR officials.

According to sources KCPCR officials have collected some valuable information regarding the incident, though the President, Krupa Alva, declined to share the details. She told Deccan Chronicle that commission was able to collect some valuable information regarding the incident.

“As police investigation is on, I cannot share them,” she said. Cops question students: The J. P. Nagar police questioned the boys who allegedly bullied Raunak. Police said as the case involve minors, they are reportedly going soft.

Though senior officers are not divulging any information about the progress in the investigation, sources said that the boys, who are in question, were reportedly quizzed by the police.

“While some of them said they did not bully him, others claimed that they were just pulling his leg and playing with him. We could not exert pressure on the children and gathered details from them patiently. It has come to our notice that the boys threw water bottles at Raunak in the school van and passed some comments at him. And, none of them stood by him. It appears this upset him and he took the extreme step,” a source said.
