KOCHI: The Election Commission has not been finalised the dates for Assembly polls in the state, Election commissioner O P Rawat said on Friday. The dates will be announced only after ensuring  poll preparedness across all parts of the state, he added.

He was speaking to the media after visiting Korunkotta Island in Cheranalloor panchayat, one of the most remote polling stations in the district. Factors like festivals and monsoon would be considered before fixing the date.

The earlier scheduled meeting of booth level officers was dropped and the EC visited a few other polling stations at Kadungalloor near Aluva. District collector M.G Rajamanickam, S. Shanavas, Dy Collector (Election) and City Police Commissioner M.P Dinesh received Mr. Rawat.

The official reached the remote island through boat from Bolgatty Island. During the visit, he asked the booth level officer about the facilities of the only polling station in the island and expressed satisfaction over the arrangements. There are more than 250 voters in the island.
