Bengaluru Youth Attempts Suicide by Jumping on Metro Track at Jalahalli Station

BENGALURU: A youth allegedly attempted suicide by jumping onto metro rail tracks just as a train arrived at Bengaluru’s Jalahalli Metro Station on Friday evening. The incident, which occurred around 7. 10 pm, brought the metro services on the route to a standstill for over 15 minutes before the services resumed.

The youth, identified as Sharan (23), a native of Kerala, was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment and is said to be critical as of now. The motive for Sharan’s alleged suicide attempt has not been identified yet.

The youth is identified as Sharan (23), a native of Kerala and working at a private firm in Bengaluru city. He stays with his friends in the city.
Peenya police rushed to the spot for examination and gathered details about the incident. Police verified CCTV footage taken from the metro station to gather clues about the incident.

Similar incidents of passengers jumping onto the tracks have happened before in Bengaluru. Security personnel had rescued another passenger from the tracks at Indira Nagar Metro Station while she was trying to pick up her mobile phone which had fallen accidentally on the tracks. A few years back, a person allegedly committed suicide by jumping on the metro tracks close to Mahatma Gandhi Metro Station.
