Chennai: The State unit of the BJP has ridiculed the Congress for erupting into a celebratory mood on Wednesday and said the Supreme Court has only granted bail to P. Chidambaram, former Union Minister, but has not acquitted him in the INX Media money-laundering case lodged by the Enforcement Directorate.

Lashing out at Chidambaram, BJP State general secretary Vanathi Srinivasan said “mere granting of bail did not mean that he is not guilty.” “There is a strong case against him and the apex court has not say he is innocent,” she said reacting to Wednesday's development.

“We have never been vindictive. When P. Chidambaram was Home Minister during the UPA regime, he had filed false cases against several BJP leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” a BJP senior said.

“So, finally Chidambaram too joins the long list of OOBC (Out On Bail Club) in the Congress. He joins the coveted Club, some members of which are: Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Robert Vadra, Motilal Vohra, Bhupinder Hooda, Sashi Tharoor, etc etc,” tweeted BJP spokesman Sambit Patra.
