HYDERABAD: Marketing minister T. Harish Rao recently said that the  e-NAM (National Agriculture  Market) initiative will be extended to all the markets in state by 2018. At present, 45 markets are covered under e-NAM, helping farmers to sell their  agriculture produce for good prices, he added. Mr Rao inaugurated a training session for agriculture marketing staff at Bowenpally  Agriculture Market on Sunday.

He said, “We are leading when it comes to implementing e-NAM. All the markets will be brought under e-NAM by Kharif 2018 in June.” He added that with e-NAM competition among traders to offer  remunerative prices to farmers has increased. Even farmers are getting an opportunity to choose  traders at national-level to sell their produce for a better price.

“With e-NAM, the menace of middle-men in markets will vanish. The initiative is being successfully implemented in Nizamabad, Siddipet and Gajwel. There is no reason  why it cannot be implemented in Warangal. We will ensure that there are no  internet connectivity issues in all the markets for the successful implementation,” he said.

Nizamabad Market has secured top place in the country in  implementing e-NAM. The new software has been launched to issue licences to traders and for inspection of vehicles carrying stocks.
