KOZHIKODE: District collector U.V. Jose has warned fishers against venturing into southeast and the central Arabian Sea from Friday. The fishermen who had left already were asked to return as the Met department had predicted a cyclonic storm.

The district disaster management authority reviewed the condition of the district to tackle emergencies. A yellow alert has been declared in the district, whereas the neighbouring Malappuram district carries a red warning for Sunday.

The district administration is all prepared to face any disaster, and all the necessary arrangements are in place. In every Taluk, there are 24-hour control rooms. In the hill ranges, people have been alerted against landslides.

"We are also advising the public to avoid travelling at night especially in the hill ranges," he said. In the coastal area, a strong wind has been predicted during the coming days and has directed the public here to be extra cautious.
