Government releases Rs 15 cr to Yogi Vemana Varsity

The University authorities had given a representation to the Chief Minister over long pending issues, including buildings and other structures.

Anantapur: State Government has released Rs 15 crores towards developmental activities in Yogi Vemana University in Kadapa, following a representation given by vice-chancellor Prof. Attipalli Ramachandra Reddy to Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, during his visit, a few weeks ago.         

The University authorities had given a representation to the Chief Minister over long pending issues, including buildings and other structures.

Additional funds to the tune of '15 crores are required for the construction of staff quarters of University staff, vice-chancellor’s and registrar’s bungalows and police station closer to the premises of the Varsity.

Explaining the process of release of funds, vice-chancellor Ramachandra Reddy stated that he had submitted a representation to the Chief Minister requesting for additional funds during the CM’s visit on August 25 to Y.V. University campus for Vanam - Manam programme.

The Chief Minister’s Office has complied with all administrative clearances and released orders for sanction of '15 crores to the Higher Education Department, Reddy briefed mediapersons on Thursday.

The University is under the process of submitting a Detailed Project Report (DPR) to the Higher Education Department for getting the funds released, he explained.

“The sanctioning of additional funds to the tune of '15 Crores for Y.V. University development indicates the positive outlook of the Chief Minister towards Yogi Vemana University,” the vice- chancellor observed and further added that the construction of staff quarters, vice-chancellor’s and registrar’s bungalows will provide more proximity between administration wing  and the students.

Registrar Prof. K. Chandraiah said that the Chief Minister had observed the academic and administrative development of the University and released funds with a positive outlook.

While the Chief Minister took an initiative to release funds in the home turf of Leader of the Opposition Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, the TD leaders from Kadapa wanted to boost up the development activities.
