Andhra Pradesh HC dismisses PIL on VIP break darshan
The court after hearing all parties to the petition pronounced its judgment.
Vijayawada: The Division Bench of the Andhra Pradesh High court dismissed a public interest litigation (PIL) filed against grant of VIP Break Darshan at Tirumala by the TTD.
The bench observed in its 49 page judgment that categorisation of devotees into L1,L2 and L3 is not violative of Article 14 and 25 of the Constitution of India.
However, the bench observed that the Break Darshan for protocol and VIP devotees should be restricted for 1 to 2 hours a day and it should be granted to VIPs and VVIPs as mentioned in the Blue Book and Yellow Book published by the union government.
In its judgment the bench also observed that this practice is also sanctioned by Dittam which the temple authorities are even following today.
It may be recalled that, Venkata Subba Rao Jagarlamudi in March approached the AP High Court against the L1, L2 and L3 Break Darshan.
Advocate Umesh Chandra P.V.G. appeared for the petitioner and submitted arguments before the court in July and August.
