Bengaluru records highest ever single-day spike with 1172 cases and 24 deaths
Incidents of people struggling to get admitted to hospitals, dying due to lack of coordination are all out in the open
Bengaluru recorded 1172 fresh Corona positive cases, the highest ever single-day spike. Also, the city recorded 24 deaths in the past 24 hours. Since July 1, the city has recorded 3,790 virus cases. The state recorded 1839 cases and 42 deaths on Saturday.
Yet again the health bulletin issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare was filled with more than 1,300 cases under 'Contact Under Tracing'. Till date, the state has lost 335 lives, with 129 from Bengaluru alone. The state has 11, 966 active cases.

Situation could have been handled better: BBMP Commissioner
BBMP Commissioner Mr Anil Kumar visited the family of the COVID victim who succumbed as he was left unattended on the road and offered an unconditional apology. Sharing the details of his visit Mr Anil Kumar lamented over the incident and wished the situation could have been handled in a better manner.
To prevent such incidents from repeating again, the state government has put a system in place to get all citizens to a hospital quickly.
In a circular dated July 4 issued by the Additional Chief Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, Mr Jawaid Aktar, people with breathing difficulty should call 108 and an ambulance will be assigned to shift them to the nearest designated COVID 19 hospital after consulting the BBMP's bed allocation team. Also, citizens are asked to call 1912 to complain about the denial of admission or non-allocation of beds. Further, the government gave its nod to the isolation and treatment of COVID positive patients at home.
CM orders seals down of areas with high cases
Chief Minister Mr B S Yediyurappa has instructed officials to identify and strictly seal down areas where there are high Corona cases. In the task force meeting, when the issue of lockdown was raised, Deputy Chief Minister Mr Aswath Narayan and Medical education minister Mr Sudhakar have suggested that lockdown is not necessary at this stage and Mr Yeddi is expected to take the final decision on this matter.
