Vijayawada: Campaigning for repoll concludes

The chief electoral officer said that re-polling will begin at 7 am and would conclude at 6 pm.

The party is considering the candidature of few leaders and has not ruled out veteran Tamil film music director and lyricist Gangai Amaran.

Vijayawada: Andhra Pradesh chief electoral officer G.K. Dwivedi said that campaign in the five polling booths for re-polling ended on Saturday.

The re-polling would be held on May 6. He said that around 50 security personnel would be deployed for every polling booth for the smooth conduct of re-polling.

The chief electoral officer said that re-polling will begin at 7 am and would conclude at 6 pm. He said that voters who would be in the queue by 6 pm would be allowed to cast their votes. He said that re-polling would be held under the supervision of returning officers and DSPs. He said that arrangements have been made for video coverage inside and outside the polling booths.

Dwivedi said that already campaign was held for re-polling in the five polling booths. He said that voter slips have also been distributed to the voters and they were asked to cast their votes without fail.

He said that counting of votes would be held on May 23 and start at 8 am under which postal and service votes would be counted first. After that, EVMs votes will be counted. He added that polling staff for counting would be selected through randomisation process for a smooth and fair counting process.
