Kochi: Representatives of Syro Malabar Catholic Association on Friday came out openly against a group of priests who allegedly cold-shouldered the decisions taken by the Synod in the land row involving Cardinal Mar George Alencherry. The association demanded that such rebel priests should be strictly dealt with.   In a press note issued here, Sebastian Vadassery, general secretary of the Association said that if the Synod is unable to keep them on a tight leash, the laity will be forced to do it.

“Ernakulam - Angamaly archdiocese leadership should be ready to take action against the priests who are insulting the belief of more than five lakh laity in the arch diocese. These clergy should also be removed from the various responsible posts they are currently holding,” said Association president V.V Augustine. The Association representatives added that the Church assets are contributions from the laity and it should not be vested with a group of clergy.
