AP: Maoist landmine blast kills home guard

Maoists have been trying to take revenge on the police after the Malkangiri encounter, in which a total of 31 red-rebels were gunned down.

Visakhapatnam: A home guard was killed in a landmine blast triggered by suspected Maoists at Meduvada area under Annavaram Police station limits in Vizag Agency on Friday morning.

The incident took place when the home guard (driver) was returning to Chintapalle in a jeep.

Sources in police said that the Maoists are active in few parts of Chintapalle and Annavaram police station limits in the region.

The Maoists have been trying to take revenge on the police after the Malkangiri encounter, in which a total of 31 red-rebels were gunned down in October 2016.

The police have intensified the combing operations in Vizag Agency following the killing of home guard.
