Hyderabad: AICC spokesperson Rajiv Gowda said that the party manifesto released on Tuesday was a blueprint to ensure a Congress government at the Centre. The manifesto was prepared after consulting intellectuals, he said.

Mr Gowda said that the Nyay scheme announced by Congress president Rahul Gandhi, which guarantees a minimum income for five crore people, was a surgical strike on poverty. To provide relief for farmers, the Congress government will present a special budget for the agriculture sector, Mr Gowda told mediapersons at Gandhi Bhavan on Thursday.

He said Prime Minister Narendra Modi had failed to provide jobs to unemployed youth and India had became a “jobless country”.  He said free diagnostic services and medicines would be provided to the poor.

Mr Gowda said that once the Congress comes to power, it would modernise the Indian Railways. The GST system will be simplified and hurdles would be removed.

He said the Congress would stand by the tribals and the Forest Rights Act will be implemented.
