Free and fair polls in Pondicherry: Chief Electoral Officer

The union territory of Puducherry will go to polls on May 16 along with the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

The DMK is keen to turn the tables on AIADMK which scored over its rival in 2011 Assembly elections with its promise of free laptops, mixies, grinders and fans.

Puducherry: The union territory of Puducherry will go to polls on May 16 along with the neighbouring states of Tamil Nadu and Kerala.

Releasing the schedule of general elections to the  legislative assembly  Chief Electoral Officer of Puducherry Dr V. Candavelou told news persons here that the commission will ensure the election process be ‘free and fair’ without any kind of  malpractice.

The model code of conduct will come into effect from March 4, and would be in force until the completion of election process on May 21.

The code of conduct will be applicable to all political parties, candidates and government servants, Mr Candavelou said.
