Operation Swechha saved 1,506 child labourers in Andhra Pradesh

AP CID and Women Protection Cell lead to significant achievements in eradicating child labour.

Vijayawada: The first annual report of the ‘Operation Swechha – 2023’ aiming to eradicate child labour system in Andhra Pradesh was released at the AP CID headquarters in Mangalagiri on Thursday.

Releasing the report, CID’s additional director general of police N Sanjay said Operation Swechha was formed in the state with involvement of AP Police, CID and the Women Protection Cell. The unit coordinated with the Labour department in every district and formed anti human trafficking units (AHTU).

Sanjay said this department has saved 1,506 child labourers in AP in 2023. Of them, 897 have joined schools through the Samagra Siksha Abhiyan.

Operation Swechha has won appreciation from the central ministry of home affairs. “The CID is sending this report to the home affairs ministry every year,” he said.

CID officials felicitated SP, KGV Saritha, for the recognition she got from the Tamil Nadu government and an appreciation from state DGP Rajendranath Reddy. CID IGP, Ch Srikanth, and others participated.
