Chennai: Train delayed as students throw stones

The incident occurred when Tiruchendur express departed the Egmore station and was crossing the Tambaram Sanatorium station.

Chennai: Notorious school students attacked a moving train on Friday, causing damage and delaying it by an hour.

The incident occurred when Tiruchendur express departed the Egmore station and was crossing the Tambaram Sanatorium station. It was around 4.45 pm, four to five school students started throwing stones at the engine of the train, causing the glass and windshield to break.

The engine driver immediately stopped the train. Bystanders informed the RPF and the railway police rushed to the spot. The engine driver complained that he could not drive all the way to Tiruchendur as the wind would disturb him while driving and requested another engine.

The Tambaram railway car shed was informed and another engine was brought. Due to this, the train was delayed by over an hour. The St Thomas Mount RPF, Tambaram Railway police are investigating. They have confirmed that the boys who threw the stones are from a nearby  school.
