Kerala: Private buses to get uniform colours soon

Commuters said that if there was not to be a complete rollback, the fares must at least be reduced by 50 per cent for pocket- friendly travel.

Thiruvananthapuram: The State Transport Authority under the Regional Transport Commissioner at its meeting held here on Thursday decided to bring uniformity to the colour of all private service buses in the state.

This change will be applied based on section 264 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
Currently the private buses on the roads come in many vibrant colours and it has been brought to notice that at times it could be distracting and has been the cause of some of the road accidents. This has led to the decision to bring about a uniform colour for all private buses.

Kerala State Private Bus Operators Federation (KSPBOF) Lawrence Babu, general secretary said that there were three types of private buses in the state.
