World Space Week programmes start in Visakhapatnam

 Visakhapatnam: Celebrations of World Space Week 2023, being organised under supervision of Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SHAR) and Indian Space Research Centre (ISRO), started at the Raghu Engineering College in Visakhapatnam on Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference on the occasion, Raghu educational institutions chairman Kalidindi Raghu and SHAR scientist and Visakha region programme management sub-committee chairman G. Appanna said the theme of this year’s celebrations will be “Space and Entrepreneurship for Year 2023.”

A spacewalk will be organised from RK Beach on Thursday morning at 7 am to create awareness among people about space.

On the same day, photography and quiz competitions will be organised for under and post-graduate students. The space week celebrations will continue till October 10.

State education minister Botsa Satyanarayana, IT minister Gudivada Amarnath, and ISRO deputy director G. Ramesh Babu will participate in the celebrations.

During the space week, Raghu Engineering College will be the venue for exhibitions, competitions, video shows and special interactive sessions with ISRO scientists.
