Harvard to study Social Welfare Residential schools in Telangana

Hyderabad: Harvard Graduate School of Education, a unit of Harvard University, will take up a case study of the Telangana Social Welfare Residential Institutions (TSWRIES) to critically analyse the efforts and policies of the state government to provide quality and equitable education to all the marginalised students.

This was stated by the course administrator of the International Education Policy course run by Prof. Fernando Reimers of Harvard Graduate School of Education, to Dr R S Praveen Kumar, secretary of TSWREIS.

Dr Kumar said this is the first time that any such intervention in education for the marginalised sections was being noticed by the world renowned Harvard University.

The students and the faculty of the Harvard school will analyse challenges in professional development of teachers and school leaders against the background of acquisition of skills must for the 21st century by the students.

Dr Kumar said teachers and students of social welfare residential institutions worked with dedication to catapult the TSWREIS onto the global map within six years.

He said TSWREIS has carved a niche for itself by its seamless experimentation and syncing with the emerging trends in the global education space.
