Visakhapatnam: One of the convenient and planned residential colonies in the city is Santhipuram because of its close proximity to both the NH and commercial hub, Dwaraka Nagar.

However, its location advantage is now triggering various civic issues and one of them is parking woes. A good number of offices and banks has made their ways in the area in the last few years. Many landlords are renting their premises for a commercial purpose not being bothered about the available parking space.

The residents rued that people visiting the offices, park vehicles in front of their gates such that they do not find space to park their own.

The residents said that  authorities should impose a fine on the landlords for using their houses for commercial purposes without parking provisions.

About 5,000 people belonging to different strata of society reside in the over three decade- old colony. Though the apartment culture is slowly setting in, individual houses are still many in number.
