Four start-ups win Medtech Hackathon

HYDERABAD: Four start-ups have won the Medtech Hackathon conducted at Centre of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) in IIIT-Hyderabad. The shortlisted start-ups secured a fund support of Rs 5 lakh, incubation support for six months and Cloud credits.  The hackathon was conducted for 54 hours the over the last weekend from June 29 to July1. Top 10 ideas from among the 70 registrations received were selected based on a voting system, which were Medtech specific.

The 10 teams went through various sessions by mentors and practitioners on marketing, business strategy, feasibility study, pricing and budgeting, among others.  The winning start-ups are PD Access, Protect I, Physio Life and Sadi. Ramesh Loganathan, chief operating officer at IIITH Foundation, Professor Co-Innovation and Head Research Outreach, said, “The Medtech Hackathon is a part of our initiatives to seed new start-ups, but is very different from supporting start-ups already created. The hackathon was an attempt to get all of these to converge over the weekend, experiment with possible market ideas, get extensive mentoring from medical leaders, doctors, researchers, investors and technologists.”
