Kochi: Chalakkudy Lok Sabha MP  Innocent is getting serious about   the railways’ neglect of  Angamaly and Chalakkudy stations.  Putting aside his ‘innocent’ style,  he would stage a sit-in protest on May 13 demanding stops for the newly-introduced Palaruvi Express at the two stations.

“A protest will be held at the Chalakkudy railway station from 9 a.m. on May 13 against the continued neglect shown to the railway station by the railways,” a statement said.

The Punalur-Palakkad Palaruvi Express had started operation since April 19. Initially, the schedule was such that the train runs as a passenger in the Punalur-Kottayam section while it would run with limited stops at Ernakulam town, Aluva, Thrissur, Shoranur, Ottapalam and Palakkad  after that.

However, the  demand for stops at other stations came from various quarters and the railways allotted five more stops -- Kuruppanthara, Vaikom road, Piravam road, Mulanthuruthy and Tripunithura.

Various passenger associations organised a black ribbon protest  on Sunday last in protest against the non-allocation of stops at important stations like Angamaly, Chalakkudy, Irinjalakuda and Wadakkencherry.
