Hampi: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah while inaugurating the 'Karnataka Sambhrama-50' event organized in the historic city of Hampi emphasized the government's commitment to restore the splendor and progress of the Vijayanagara Kings in the state.

“This is the land of Basavanna. Merely naming the region (Hyderabad Karnataka) as Kalyana Karnataka is insufficient. Our objective is to promote the welfare of the people in the region. That is why Article 371(J) was introduced, a result of the tireless efforts of many, including Mallikarjun Kharge. Its implementation has increased funding for the regional development. The Congress government has allocated an additional Rs 3,000 crore," he stated while speaking at the event  organized by the Department of Kannada and Culture.

The Chief Minister asserted his lack of belief in superstitions, aligning himself with the legacy of Basavanna and the Sharanas who championed the fight against superstitions.

“The unification movement resulted in the birth of the expansive Kannada nadu (Karnataka). On the 50th anniversary of its renaming, the BJP should have held a year-long celebration which they did not. As soon as the Congress government took office, 'Kannada Sambhrama-50' was announced in the very first budget," he affirmed.

The Chief Minister recalled his tenure as the chairman of the Kannada Kavalu Samiti, reminiscing about his efforts to ensure the use of Kannada language in administration. He recalled distributing Kannada typing machines to all offices and encouraging IAS officers to adopt Kannada as the official language.

Siddaramaiah also visited Sri Virupaksha Temple at Hampi. Hampi Peetadhipathi Sri Virupaksha Vidyaranya Swamiji was present on the ocassion.
