Bengaluru: With Bengaluru seeing a turnout of merely 58.27 per cent in the 2013 Assembly poll, the Bangalore Political Action Comittee (B.PAC) in association with the BBMP launched a campaign – One Million New Votes (OMNV) – on Thursday to persuade more people to vote in the 2018 state poll.

Addressing an audience of  students on the occasion, BBMP commissioner,  N Manjunath Prasad, said the final electoral roll for the coming elections would  be published on January 15 and the objections to it  could be filed between November 21 and December 21.

Stressing the importance of citizens’ participation in elections, former bureaucrat and secretary of B.PAC, K Jairaj, said it was important for people to vote if they wanted to improve  the quality of governance in the state. “Karnataka has a tradition of producing great leaders and not all politicians are corrupt,” he said.
