Kochi: Electronics appliances maker Sony India is hoping to have a sales turnover of Rs 190 cr in Kerala during the Onam season. Speaking to reporters in Kochi on Friday Sony India managing director Sunil Nayyar said the company is banking mainly on the newly launched products in television, audio systems and digital imaging equipments to drive the growth in the festival season.

The company is hoping for a 50 percent growth in the 32-inch television segment, 70 percent in audio systems and 80 percent in digital imaging equipments.  According to Mr. Nayyar the company is setting a high growth target for the festival season by taking into account the near washout in sales during the last Onam due to the floods in the state.

Apart from offering a slew of new products the company has also devised attractive finance schemes and freebies to attract consumers in view of the overall slowdown in the market. Satish Padmanbhan, Sony India Sales Head, said the company offers assured gifts on select products such as television, sound systems and cameras. He said the company will spend Rs 17 cr for marketing activities in the state during the Onam season.
