Meet on Krishna water sharing on Wednesday

The AP government wants KRMB office be shifted from Hyderabad to Vijayawada and the TS government is opposing it.

TS Engineer-in-Chief C. Muralidhar had complained to the KRMB that though it had only allotted 5 tmc ft from Srisailam to Pothireddypadu, AP was continuing to release water and had drawn 7.5 tmc ft more than it was allotted.

Hyderabad: The Krishna River Management Board will meet on June 6 to decide on water allocations  for Telangana and AP for the new water year 2018-19.  Both state governments are demanding inclusion of controversial issues on water-sharing in the agenda to corner each other in the meeting.

The AP government wants KRMB office be shifted from Hyderabad to Vijayawada and the TS government is opposing it. 

While TS government wants to raise diversion of Godavari water to Krishna through Pattiseema project in the meeting, the AP government wants to raise usage of Krishna water for Mission Bhagiratha and other irrigation projects, especially Sitarama lift irrigationp project in TS.

The KRMB has written to both the states seeking their opinion on the issues to be listed in the agenda for the meeting. TS and AP have sent a list to KRMB on the issues to be discussed in the meeting.
