Karimnagar: Finance and civil supplies minister Etela Rajender exuded confidence that Karimnagar district which was the hotbed of Telangana movement would play a vital role in the construction of Bangaru Telangana too.

He was addressing a gathering after unfurling the national flag, as part of the celebrations of the second Formation Day of Telangana state, at the Police Parade grounds in Karimnagar on Thursday.

Earlier, Mr. Rajender paid tributes to Telangana martyrs at the memorial and garlanded the statue of Telangana Talli. Later, he listed out the welfare schemes and developmental activities taken up by the TRS-led government.

Legislators Gangula Kamalakar, Dasari Manohar Reddy, Putta Madhu, Bodige Shobha, V. Satish Kumar, ZP chairperson Tula Uma, MLC Laxman Naradasu, collector Neetu Prasad, SP D. Joel Davis, several ZPTC and MPTC members were present.

The minister recalled the glorious past of Karimnagar district and its importance in the Telangana movement. "The demand for separate state witnessed various changes from the first phase to the second phase. Karimnagar district was the epicentre of the massive movement. It produced legendary poets, artistes and rebels," he said and hoped the district will play an instrumental role in tomorrow’s Bangaru Telangana.

Mr. Rajender said the government has been extending all support to Telangana martyrs. Already, a financial aid of Rs 10 lakh was given to kin of each of those who laid down their life for the cause of separate Telangana. Similarly, government jobs were offered to family members of 160 martyrs, as per the directions of Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao. Appointment letters will be handed over to them today, he said.

The TRS senior leader further said several welfare and developmental schemes were introduced with an aim to transform the state into Bangaru Telangana. Telangana, he said, should be reconstructed as per the aspirations of the martyrs. He predicted that Telangana would become an ideal state in the country soon and urged the participation of people in the mission.
