Hyderabad: All eyes are set on the meeting between the defence minister and vice-presidents of the 62 cantonments across India on May 4, the foremost demand being to re-open all closed cantonment roads. The same agenda is to be carried on to the meeting between the SCB vice-president and Malkajgiri MP.

SCB vice-president J. Rama Krishna said, “Our demand will be to re-open all the closed roads in the SCB limits. The Local Military Authority (LMA) have closed all important roads used by the residents and the neighboring municipalities. This  closure had led to many  complications resulting in waste of time, energy and fuel. The LMA has even closed some important roads which are the only connecting roads between two assembly constituencies.”

The Federation of North-Eastern Colonies of Secunde-rabad, who fall in the most affected zone, has asked the elected representatives to vigorously pursue the matter with the defence minister. The member gave a statement, “The 15 closed roads are not internal unit line roads but public roads spread over almost 10-km. We want all roads to be re-opened.”
