Hyderabad: TS home minister and senior TRS functionary Nayani Narasimha Reddy on Tuesday accused AICC general- secretary Digvijay Singh of playing spoilsport when talks were on of a Congress-TRS alliance before the 2014 elections.

Mr Reddy told reporters at the Secretariat, “KCR wanted to strike an alliance with the Congress. On the advice of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, we were asked to discuss the tie-up with Digvijay Singh and Jairam Ramesh. However, the two Congress leaders played spoilsport and the alliance talks failed. What happened after that is common knowledge,” Mr Reddy said.

He accused Mr Singh of playing spoilsport within the Congress and said that whatever state he was named in-charge general secretary, the Congress failed to fare well. With him at the helm, Congress performance has always been disastrous,” the home minister said.

He described the Congress as “an utter flop show party” and said that as long as persons like Digvijay Singh hold fort in many states as the party’s in-charge general secretary, there will never be an improvement to the party’s poll prospects. “It will get from bad to worse,” Mr Reddy said.
