Hyderabad: Telangana state government employees on Monday took part in a protest in New Delhi against the contributory pension scheme. They demanded the Centre and all states to scrap CPS and revive old pension scheme with immediate effect.

The employees said with the CPS, they and their families have lost social and financial security.

Scores of TS employees and teachers reached Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, the venue for the agitation and joined the protests called by employees associations of all states.

The protesters demanded governments of all the states to immediately adopt a resolution in their respective Legislatures opposing the CPS and send these resolutions to the Centre seek abolition of CPS.

The TS employees alleged the Central and state governments had in 2003 adopted CPS in haste without consulting the employees.

They said under CPS, pensionary benefits of employees were subject to volatility of the stock market, making their future uncertain.  They stated that employees were also denied family pensions under CPS.

The employees wanted the TS government to become the first in the country to scrap the CPS.
