Durga is CPM family: Brother

A member of Purogamana Kalasahithya Sangham (PuKaSa), she is also a CPM supporter.

Malappuram: Kanakadurga, who prayed to Lord Ayyappa at Sabarimala on Wednesday, hails from an orthodox Nair family at Angadippuram, near here, and is a familiar face in social service groups and the cultural arena of the district.  A member of Purogamana Kalasahithya Sangham (PuKaSa), she is also a CPM supporter. Known as ‘Durga Areekode’ and ‘Durga Angadippuram’, she is also a member of Angadippuram-based Valluvanad Samskarika Vedi. A B.Com graduate, Kanakadurga is employed in the Civil Supplies Department as assistant manager of a Maveli store at Anamangad near Perinthalmanna. 

Born at Kozhakkottur near Areekode, Kanaka-durga lives with husband Krishnanunni and two children at her husband’s house near Thirumandhamkunnu Devi temple at Angadippuram. Kanakadurga’s brother Bharat Bhushan, who is unhappy with her entry at Sabarimala shrine, said that Durga’s is a ‘CPM family.’ She has actively participated in all trade union activities.
