Families clash over witchcraft in Vizag tribal hamlet: 3 dead

Visakhapatnam: Three persons were killed and another two sustained injuries when two families clashed over practice of witchcraft in Bagmaravalasa village under Tokuru panchyat of Ananthagiri mandal of  Visakhapatnam agency. The incident took place late evening on Tuesday. The local police said Gollori Dumbu and his family members attacked Killo Komati family members with knives and other sharp weapons blaming them for practising witchcraft. Killo Komati died on the spot and his two sons Balaram and Bhagavan sustained serious injuries.

In retaliation the relatives of Killo Komati attacked Gollori Dumbi and his family members. Dumbu was found dead on the outskirts of the village and his son Subbarao in the village.

The villagers attacked the Dumbu family for attacking Komati family blaming them for practising witchcraft. Old rivalry was said to be the main reason for the clashes, local sources said.

The police from Ananthagiri and Araku rushed to the village and brought the situation under control. The police shifted the injured to King George Hospital and few with minor injuries to S Kota hospital.
