Deepa while here in Dharmapuri said, "I suspect Sasikala family's role in Amrutha's efforts to blot the image of my aunt (Jayalalithaa)" Ms. Jayalaithaa's niece ad-ded, "she (Amrutha) should stop making such derogatory statements or else a legal case will be filed against her in the interest of saving Jayalalithaa’s image." Ms Deepa, slamming the election commission of India (ECI) said, that she would challenge the ECI's ruling in the Supreme Court for allotting the 'Two Leaves' symbol to the Edappadi K. Palaniswami-O. Pannerselvam group.
